Qualifying ended on Wednesday for city council races in Ball Ground and Woodstock, but continues through Friday in Holly Springs.
One candidate qualified on Wednesday for the Woodstock City Council's special election on Sept. 21 to fill the Ward 6 seat of Steve Faris, who recently resigned.
Deer Run resident Tessa Basford faces no opposition and is a shoo-in to finish his term, which ends on Dec. 31, 2011.
Mrs. Basford, a community volunteer, has lived in Woodstock for 11 years.
The three Ball Ground City Council incumbents up for re-election to four-year terms also face no opposition. City Clerk Karen Jordan said, as a result, no city election will take place on Nov. 2.
Councilmen Frank Homiller, 48, and Lee Prettyman, 67, qualified on Wednesday. Councilwoman Andrenia "Andi" Stoner qualified on Monday.
Qualifying ends on Friday in Holly Springs, but there already is one contested race in the Nov. 2 nonpartisan municipal election.
Kyle Whitaker, 35, an implementation specialist, and Michael Zenchuk, 38, an employee benefits consultant, are running for the Post 1 seat being vacated by incumbent Tommy Sanders. He has announced he won't seek re-election.
Holly Springs City Councilwoman Dee Phillips, 50, a registered nurse who has served for 10 years, has qualified to run for re-election to her Post 2 seat for another four-year term.
Qualifying is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today and Friday at the Holly Springs Municipal Building. The fee is $180.
