An avid motorcyclist from Woodstock was killed on Saturday when she hit a truck head-on in Sutallee.

Sandra Moon, 59, was driving her motorcycle westbound on Highway 20/Knox Bridge Highway at 4:30 p.m. when she crossed the center line just west of Highway 108, according to the Cherokee Sheriff's Office. She crashed head-on into a truck traveling eastbound on Highway 20.

Mrs. Moon and the truck's driver were taken by ambulance to Northside Hospital-Cherokee in Canton. She died at the hospital. The truck driver, whose name has not been released, suffered minor injuries.

The sheriff's office's Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the crash, said Public Information Officer Lt. Jay Baker, adding they did not know why she crossed the center line

Mrs. Moon and her husband, Tommy, were directors of the Woodstock chapter of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association motorcycle club, which had a meeting on Saturday morning.

She was the owner and president of Blue Moon Insurance and Financial LLC in Woodstock and had worked in the industry for 38 years.

my heart goes to this family for their loss.

i am becoming increasingly fearful of riding in the conditions of the day. we can be careful, safe and look out at 180, but accidents do happen, and i am so sorry to hear about a fellow rider going down. i can only think she was doing what she loved to do best when she left this world. my prayer is she didn't suffer any and that her family can accept the will of the great spirit.

It is with great sadness to my wife and myself to learn of this tragic accident.

Sandra Moon was an exceptionally nice woman and was our insurance agent as well.

We are truly sorrowful for her husband, Tommy, who we also know and wish him our greatest condolences at this terrible time.

We also extend our condolences to her employees and her family. Any help we can be, please let us know.
