Using a fraudulent passport for Kevin, Viskup and the child have been seen in the Canary Islands, the Czech Republic and Spain.
The FBI’s Wanted Page on the Internet shows pictures of Peter Viskup and Kevin. The charge again Viskup is “International Parental Kidnapping.” Statistics, including his weight, height and occupation, are listed. He is a cable installation specialist.
Many of us know Creighton. The oldest son of Dr. Bill and Marie Cutts; he grew up in Canton.
The Cutts family moved here for Dr. Cutts to open a medical practice when Creighton was entering the third grade. He was in my class at Canton Elementary. It was easy for me to love him.
Even if you do not know him, you may have one of his creations in your home. Creighton conceived the idea of “Honey Pots.”
Using a process he patented, they are made of bees’ wax and decorated with small wild flowers. He formed his company, Bee Natural, and now his “Honey Pots” are found in gift shops in several states.
It was his “Honey Pots” that brought the couple together. He was at a crafts exhibit at Woodstock First Baptist Church when Andrea caught his eye. He thought she looked sad, lonely and troubled.
Now if you know Creighton like I do, you know that he is a kind and compassionate person. He left his exhibition area, walked over to Andrea and gave her one of his “Honey Pots.”
When she protested, he convinced her to accept his gift. They were married in 2007. Andrea works at the University of Georgia.
Both Andrea and her former husband were born in the Czech Republic. He is a naturalized citizen of the United States and she has made application for citizenship. Kevin was born in the United States.
When she realized their marriage was not working out, Andrea began taking Kevin to the Czech Republic for extended periods of time. She decided they would remain there.
When his father visited Kevin and Andrea in 2005, he took Kevin and brought him back to the United States, living in both Cobb and Cherokee counties. He filed for a divorce in Cobb County and when it was granted, it gave him sole custody of his son.
Viskup reportedly moved back and forth between Cobb and Cherokee counties. Kevin was briefly enrolled in schools in both school systems.
Still in the Czech Republic, Andrea learned of Peter Viskup being granted a divorce and sole custody of the child. She returned to the United States and a legal battle began. In the meantime, she learned that Kevin had been told that she had died.
Andrea won temporary primary custody of Kevin. Later she was granted permanent primary custody. Kevin went back to live with his mother, Creighton and Creighton’s son, Hunter, in Athens.
All seemed well. Kevin was an honor student in elementary school, joined the Boy Scouts, played soccer and had lessons in martial arts.
Peter Viskup had visitation rights. A judge found him in contempt of court for not paying child support. Soon after that was when he did not bring Kevin back after another parental visit.
Creighton and Andrea have been successful in local court, state court and the Georgia Supreme Court. But this is an international abduction.
Now it is the FBI and the Department of State whom they are appealing to for them to make finding Kevin a priority.
During this time of terrorist attacks and threats to national security, they feel finding a child stolen by his father is not a high priority of the Department of State.
Creighton and Andrea have turned to social media. They want Facebook messaging and tweeting to snowball to such an extent that the government must pay attention. Too, they want us to help them by getting the news out to everyone we know, including people in other countries.
You and I can do that by pressing a few keys on our computers.
Andrea said, “Kevin was so happy with his friends and activities in Athens. He was enjoying his child life… Now we know he’s not involved anywhere. He’s just in hiding with his father and missing his happiness.”
