Several area churches are conducting services to celebrate Easter April 4.
Sixes United Methodist Church will conduct a sunrise service at 7 a.m. Easter morning and at 9 a.m., the church will hold an Easter service at church.
At 11 a.m., the church will conduct another service at Freedom Middle School.
Pastor Jim Buckman, pastor at Sixes, said it's the second year the church has conducted an Easter service at Freedom Middle School. Along with space constrictions, Buckman said the school provides an opportunity to reach a larger base of people.
"It's a great a venue," he added. "A lot of people in the community are a little bit more comfortable going to a school."
Buckman described his Easter services as "very upbeat" and "casual by nature."
Hillcrest Baptist Church in southwest Cherokee County will begin its Easter celebration with a community Easter egg roll and hunt for families from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 3 at the church, located at 6069 Woodstock Road.
Dianne Moore, administrative assistant at the church, said Easter Sunday services will be conducted at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. A musical called "Run To The Cross" will be presented to the congregation.
The musical will present the story of Jesus Christ leading up to his resurrection and will feature contemporary and traditional hymns.
Ms. Moore said the church presents a musical every year, and they seem to be popular among the parishioners.
She added she hopes the crowds continue to come and celebrate Easter at her church.
"People should come to learn about the life of Christ and to worship together on Easter Sunday morning," she said.
Resurrection Anglican Church is planning a four-day Easter celebration.
On April 1, it will conduct a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m., a Good Friday service at 5 p.m., and an Easter Saturday vigil at 8 p.m. On Easter Sunday, the church will have 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services. An Easter breakfast will take place at 9:30 a.m.
Jennifer Wood, office assistant with Resurrection, said an Anglican communion will also take place during Sunday's services.
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Towne Lake will have four different services on Easter Sunday. At 7 a.m., an outdoor sunrise service will take place at the church, located at 1208 Rose Creek Drive.
The sunrise service will have Holy Communion and praise music, said Senior Pastor Paul Baumgartner.
At 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., more traditional Easter services will be conducted at the church. Baumgartner added Holy Communion will be offered at those services.
At 9:30 a.m., a praise service with Holy Communion will also take place.
Baumgartner said his main concern is not if the community comes to his church, but if they go to any church to celebrate Easter.
"I think people should go out to anyone's service on Easter," he said. "I think they should go to hear the good news of Christ's resurrection."
