HICKORY FLAT — The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is looking for assistance in identifying a white male suspected of public indecency in the Hickory Flat Kroger parking lot Thursday.

Lt. Jay Baker, spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said a woman told deputies an unknown man exposed himself to her from inside his car.

Baker said the victim told investigators that a man sitting in a late-model beige Ford Escape asked her a question as she walked to her car.

“When the victim began to speak to the suspect, she noticed he was masturbating in his vehicle,” Baker said.

Baker said the sheriff’s office does not typically get these types of calls, but since sending out the information and a composite sketch Monday he has received many tips about the man from the public.

“Investigators have received numerous tips from the media (and social media) and are currently following up on that information,” Baker said Tuesday.

Baker described the man as a white male between the ages of 22 to 27 years old with brown hair and a trimmed beard. The victim also told investigators the man was wearing an off-white or cream colored T-shirt at the time.

Anyone who may recognize the suspect is urged to contact detectives with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office at (770) 928-0239.
