Mr. William Benson Cantrell, age 80, of 1001 Poplar Springs Road, Adairsville passed away Friday morning, October 5, 2012 at the residence. He was born in Cherokee County, Georgia, November 21, 1931, son of the late Hiram Jackson Cantrell and Emma Lee Hughes Cantrell. Mr. Cantrell was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Korean Conflict, a member of the Adairsville Masonic Lodge #168, and was of the Baptist faith. He owned and operated Family Leisure Resort in Adairsville for 13 years and loved playing music for local benefits. Mr. Cantrell was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jackie Cantrell; sister, Jean Huey and brother-in-law, Frankie Hyde. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Winona Cantrell of Adairsville; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Doyle and Sherry Cantrell of Canton, Lynn Cantrell of Kennesaw, David and Lynn Cantrell of Ball Ground, and Heath and Mandy Cantrell of Adairsville; a daughter, Vivian Cantrell of Adairsville; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; 2 sisters and brother-in-law, Annie Lee and Burlie Atkins of Woodstock and Martha Hyde of Woodstock; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Sara Cantrell of Ellijay and nieces and nephews. Mr. Cantrell will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 8, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Rev. Leon Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow in Rolling Hills Memory Garden, Acworth. The family will receive friends at Barton Funeral Home, Sunday from 11:00 a.m.until 8:00 p.m. R. Dudley Barton and Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, is in charge of funeral arrangements for Mr. William Benson Cantrell.
