JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) — A metro Atlanta school district is considering placing security guards in schools after the county sheriff decided to pull deputies from campuses.

WSB-TV reports the Clayton County school board met Monday and voted on an emergency resolution to hire 38 security guards to fill gaps left by deputies that are being pulled from campuses as the sheriff’s department readjusts resources. The guards would work in Clayton County schools for the remaining 10 weeks of the school year.

Officials are expected to vote on the resolution next week.
