Woodstock 6, Cherokee 4: Zach Zillweger went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Wolverines to a Region 5AAAAAA victory.
Tanner Thompson was 2-for-3, Jimmy Walker had a hit and an RBI and Brandon Byrd pitched three innings to earn the win.
Mason Ward was 2-for-3 and drove in two for Cherokee. Logan Hornback added two hits.
Woodstock (14-11, 6-7) will host Lassiter today while Cherokee (8-16, 4-9) travels to Milton.
Creekview 8, North Springs 1: The Grizzlies broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning when R.J. Knecht connected on a three-run homer to spark a four runs in the sixth frame and three in the seventh.
Chandler Wold closed out the game with four strikeouts in the seventh inning as a result of a passed ball. Nick Williams pitched five innings as the starter, recording three strikeouts.
n Woodstock 3, Parkview 0: The Lady Wolverines moved on second round of the Class AAAAAA state tournament.
In singles action Savannah Wood defeated Abbie Nelms 6-1, 6-0. Neither Katie Olenjik nor Savannah Barlitt completed their matches.
In doubles, the pairing of Gabrielle Wood and Lauren Nielly won 6-1, 6-1, while Nikki Poirier and Brooklynn Milone posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory in their match.
The Lady Wolverines were scheduled to play Peachtree Ridge on Thursday.
Grayson 3, Etowah 2 (OT): The Lady Eagles twice came back from a goal deficite, but couldn’t do it a third time in overtime.
Etowah’s Erin Rodman scored in the 20th minute to even the game at 1-all off an assist from Claire Groce. Amy Rodman scored in the 56th minute on an assist from Kelsey Meyers to tie it at 2-all.
Etowah travels to Parkview on Tuesday for the opening round of the state playoffs.
n Cherokee 13, Woodstock 11 (OT): Freshman Jillian Chiesa scored three goals, but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Wolverines fell.
Jenna Carr added two goals and four assists and Grace Witten had one goal and one assist for Woodstock. Also scoring for the Lady Wolverines were Anna Timm, Claudia Harrison and Kalin Bagwell.
Vienna Monte made four saves in goal for Woodstock.
Woodstock (2-7) will play at River Ridge today. Cherokee plays Walton on Saturday.
