A Dawsonville man has been arrested for allegedly raping a Cherokee County girl who met him on a social networking Web site.

The Cherokee Sheriff's Office on Thursday arrested Joshua West, 20. He was charged with rape and aggravated child molestation.

He was being held without bond on Thursday at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.

The 13-year-old victim said she met West on Yearbook.com, a social networking Web site, and had been communicating with him for about three weeks.

She invited him to her home in Cherokee on Monday when students were out of school.

West allegedly raped her at her home on Monday. She reported the incident to school officials on Tuesday.

West was taken into custody at his home in Dawsonville by sheriff's office detectives.

If convicted, he should be sentenced to 20 years of hard labor with no television, no recreation, and no chance of early parole.
