ACWORTH — Deputies arrested a suspected car thief following a foot chase Wednesday morning in southwest Cherokee County, according to a news release from the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office.

Cody Carroll, 22, was found in the woods near the stolen vehicle, which had broken down off Priest Road, said Lt. Jay Baker, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle belonged to the suspect’s father, Baker said.

Baker said Deputy Patrick Bolls caught Carroll after a short foot chase. The Acworth man was also wanted on suspicion of probation violation in Cherokee and faces felony charges stemming from an arrest in Bartow County.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Carroll was in custody without bond at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center and has been charged with probation violation and obstruction of an officer.
