Directed by two students from Etowah High School, Austin Boyett and Joanna Campagna, for their Senior Project, a large and talented cast brings the beautiful and exciting story by C. S. Lewis to life on stage.
The faithful musical adaptation was originally written by G. Lora Grooms in 2002 and includes four new songs this year.
A portion of all ticket sales for “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” will be donated to Families of Cherokee United in Service to provide funds for transportation needs of teens involved in their programs.
The partnership began last year with “A Little Princess” directed by another Etowah Senior, Erin McCarthy, when her advisor suggested community service become part of her Senior Project.
When Cherokee FOCUS Director Sonia Carruthers indicated how helpful those funds have been to her teens, Elm Street decided to make it an annual fundraiser and part of every Senior Project production.
The cast features Maduka Childebelu-Eze as the Great Lion, Aslan; Andrea Reintjes-Miller as the White Witch; and Garrison Cox, Sarah Hill, Noah Lee and Sophia Nettuno as the four brothers and sisters who step into a wardrobe but, instead, find themselves in the magical, wintry world of Narnia.
That world has been created for Elm Street by Cindy and Jim Flanders along with Shannon Sokol, Hannah Gilliam and Harry Heinisch.
Costumes were designed and built by Elaine Heinisch, Julie Sokol, Shawn McLeod, Jean Dougherty and Britt Flanders.
Performances are held at City Center Auditorium, 8534 Main Street, Jan. 18-27, Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.
Discount tickets online are $10, including tax. At the door, tickets will be $12.
