Funeral services are today for 53-year-old Stephen Ray Brown of Woodstock, the victim of the crash.
Brown lost control of his 2007 Yamaha motorcycle while negotiating a curve, said Franka Young, Georgia Department of Public Safety spokeswoman. The accident happened about 7:15 a.m.
Young said after striking a curb on the east shoulder of the road, Brown overcorrected and struck the curb again, then lost control of his motorcycle and it rotated several times. The motorcycle landed on its left side and Brown landed about four feet away from the vehicle, she said.
It was the only vehicle involved in the crash, she said.
Brown was taken to Northside Hospital-Cherokee where he died of his injuries, Young said.
Brown is survived by his wife, Therese Lee Brown of Woodstock, five sons and two daughters.
A Celebration of Life service is planned for 12 p.m. today at Woodstock Funeral Home. Burial is at Cherokee Memorial Park in Canton.
Condolences to the family can be made online at WoodstockFuneralHome.com.
“Steve was a wonderful husband, father, brother and friend and will be missed by all who knew him,” the obituary published online stated.
Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services, the Georgia State Patrol, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies responded to the accident.
Young said it was not known if alcohol was involved in the crash, but as part of a routine fatality crash investigation, a blood test was done and results are pending.
