Government needs better ideas

Never has it been more obvious that our government is not working to serve us. On an ongoing basis failure to act on the simplest needed actions is beyond stupid. My ideas will easily expose my total lack of faith in the majority of our elected officials.

Idea No. 1 — Adjourn Congress. Send them home with full pay without the ability to pass or rescind any laws or regulations — indefinitely.

Idea No. 2 — While they’re all home have them renounce all party affiliations and see if they can make a decision on their own.

Idea No. 3 — If this works as well as I think, to leave everything status quo we might want to make the empty halls of Congress permanent.

Idea No. 4 — Do away with our 40 wasted days each January under the Gold Dome and have all our legislators work from home. They would have more time to do their duty communicating with their colleagues by telephone and email. This would save us their per diem expense, and if they are home we ordinary citizens could visit with our views.

I’ll admit this will be more difficult for the hordes of paid lobbyists to peddle their influence gifts to all our officials’ homes. Tough.

Ideas are like rabbits — after you get a couple, pretty soon you have a dozen. I would love to hear other people’s ideas. If you think my ideas are crazy, what’s sane about the present situation?
