WOODSTOCK — Three families now have a new home at the Villages of Park Creek neighborhood in Woodstock through the work of Habitat for Humanity.

The North Central Georgia Habitat for Humanity had a dedication recently for the families, and more than 75 family members, community volunteers, sponsors, and Habitat staff and board members attended to celebrate the completion of three new homes.

The three partner families became homeowners for the first time in their lives.

All three families have faced many challenges over the years, but have worked hard to rebuild their lives and futures for their children, according to Kristyn Johnson — spokesperson for Habitat for Humanity.

“The families voiced extreme gratitude to their house sponsors, who provided not only the funds, but also the volunteer labor to build the homes,” she said in a release.

The first home was built in partnership with Juan Jacinto and his wife Gabriela. They have three children, age 12, 7, and a one-month-old infant.

The couple came to the United States from Mexico nearly 15 years ago. The husband has worked at a local wholesale foods store for seven years.

Their home was sponsored by the UPS Foundation. The build is the tenth straight home that the UPS employees have built in North Fulton and Cherokee County.

The second home was sponsored by multiple businesses including; Bank of North Georgia, GEICO, Generation Mortgage Company, MetLife Volunteer Project Fund, Santi & Associates, PC, Sullivan & Schlieman Wealth Management, LLC, and Wells Fargo.

The family partner for this home is Adel Chase, a single mother of three young children who has worked for a clinical research company for five years.

The third home was built in partnership with the Shattles family. They have two children ages four and two.

“Steven and Cori have faced many challenges in the last year and a half. Their second son was hospitalized for over a month after his birth due to serious medical issues,” Johnson said. “They experienced high medical expenses and were forced to change living situations several times to be able to make ends meet. They are very grateful to have been selected as a Habitat family and are excited to finally have a stable home where they can raise their sons.”

The home was sponsored by the following business and civic groups; Cherokee Association of Realtors, Enercon, Georgia Multiple Listing Service, PCL Industrial Construction Co., the Schneider Electric Foundation, the State Street Foundation, Travelers, and the family and friends of James Wallace, Jr.
