A Jasper man died from injuries in a single-car accident after he lost control of his car and left the roadway in north Cherokee County on Thursday afternoon about 4:40 p.m., officers said.
The victim, 28-year-old Guy Russell Railing Jr., was driving a blue 1989 Buick LaSabre, said Franka Young, spokeswoman for the Georgia State Patrol.
The accident occurred while he was negotiating a curve on northbound Georgia Highway 140, she said.
“While negotiating a curve the driver lost control and went off the roadway,” Young said.
The car overturned multiple times after striking an embankment near Sam Nelson Road and then crashed into some trees, she said.
Railing was ejected from the vehicle and 33-year-old Belinda Hillhouse, a passenger, was sitting with the man when emergency personnel arrived, Young said.
The victim was taken to Northside Hospital-Cherokee where he later died, said Tim Cavender, spokesman for the Cherokee Fire and Emergency Services. Hillhouse was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital to be treated for injuries, officers said.
Young said the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is conducting a follow-up investigation of the crash.
