A trio of upcoming performances at the Falany Performing Arts Center at Reinhardt University offers something for just about everyone who loves music.

The concerts range from Mozart to jazz. Concert goers will find a high level of quality musicians taking the stage in the coming weeks at the performing arts venue at the local university. The concerts are open to the public and tickets are available on line at www.reinhardt.edu/fpac or at the box office on campus.



MOZART’S “THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO”

The Peach State Opera will perform Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” tonight at 7:30. Written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, “The Marriage of Figaro” has delighted audiences for generations.

Full of laughs, the story of a wedding day full of mistaken identities and a surprise plot twist is for an audience of all ages. The drama and confusion taking place on the wedding day of Figaro and Susanna, sets the scene for the story.

Prices for tickets are $35 for adults and $30 for seniors 55 and older and children 12 and younger. Additional service charges may apply.



REINHARDT SYMPHONIC WINDS FALL CONCERT

Reinhardt University’s Symphonic Winds will present its fall concert at Oct. 7, at 3 p.m. The orchestra is under the direction of Dr. David Gregory. There are approximately 75 members.

PRESERVATION HALL JAZZ BAND

On Saturday, Oct. 13, at 7:30 p.m., Preservation Hall Jazz Band will perform at Reinhardt University’s Falany Performing Arts Center. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band has a rich history, including performances with some of the jazz greats such as Buddy Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong and Bunk Johnson. Founding artists, as well as dozen others, have helped to pass on the lessons of their music to a younger generation who now follow in their footsteps like the current lineup.

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band derives its name from Preservation Hall, the venerable music venue located in the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter, founded in 1961 by Allan and Sandra Jaffe. The building that houses Preservation Hall has contained many businesses of the years including a tavern during the War of 1812, a photo studio and an art gallery. To this day, Preservation Hall has no drinks, air conditioning, or other typical accoutrements.

The band has traveled worldwide spreading their mission to nurture and perpetuate the art form of New Orleans Jazz. Having performed at Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center, for British Royalty and the King of Thailand, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band has spread their love for music to vast audiences.

Ticket prices for adults are $35 to $50; seniors 55 and older and students 12 and older, $30 to $45; and children 12 and younger pay $20 to $35. Additional service charges may apply
