Dennis Karimi, 23, and Brandon Terrel, 22, both of Alexander Ridge Apartments in Canton, were charged with one count of burglary and criminal attempt to commit burglary, respectively.
The arrests were made when Anthony Willis, a neighbor, saw suspicious activity at the 1400 block of Keeter Road in Canton on Friday afternoon.
“I saw three men I didn’t recognize walking down the street,” Willis said. “They went up to a house and I saw the three men banging on all the doors. No one answered and I could hear the men talking.”
Then Willis said he heard glass break and called 911.
When the neighbor called 911, patrol cars in the area responded. Deputies found three men walking along the road who fit the description given by Willis and gave chase.
Willis said as many as 15 officers swarmed onto the street.
They were able to take two into custody, while the third escaped, according to Maj. Ron Hunton, commander of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office.
“(They) ran when confronted,” trying to elude deputies, Hunton said.
Hunton said the identity of third suspect is known, as all three live in the same apartment complex. He did not provide details on the alleged third suspect.
Deputies were searching the area for the missing suspect using the K-9 Unit Friday.
“(The) suspects cut a screen and made entry via window,” Hunton said.
Hunton said investigators were waiting on the homeowner who was burglarized to conduct an inventory to determine what, if anything was missing.
The two suspects are in custody on an $11,200 bond, according to Lt. Jay Baker, spokesperson with the sheriff’s office.
