The shell is the start of construction of a proposed small strip center with four bays to be located on the outparcel, according to city building and planning officials.
The latest addition to the row of fast food, restaurants and shops will house an eye clinic, dentist’s office, sandwich shop and possible coffee shop, according to Mark Crosby, building official with the City of Canton.
Plans have already been submitted to the city for the dentist’s office by Aspen Dental, Crosby said, and America’s Best Eyecare has also submitted their layout for one of the four suites.
The latest eatery in the strip mall will be Which Wich sandwich shop, a popular sub shop, he said.
Starbucks could occupy the fourth slot in the building, Crosby said, but they have not yet submitted plans.
“We talked to Starbucks, but do not yet have a set of plans from them,” Crosby said.
The latest addition to the shopping complex is 9,870 square feet, and will be constructed under the architectural oversight guidelines for the entire project out of brick and stucco.
“It will look like the rest of the shopping center, with the brick up of the columns,” Crosby said. “It will blend in with the rest of the development.”
The parking lot for the new building has been approved, he said and the plans for the shell were signed off on July 27.
“They are pushing to get the rest of the plans approved so they can quickly move forward with the plans,” Crosby noted.
Which Wich Superior Sandwiches is a national chain with franchises available. The restaurant offers more than 50 varieties of customizable “wiches,” and high-end extras are held to high standards: signature house chips, hand-dipped shakes, and desserts.
Aspen Dental is also a national company with locations in several states.
No other plans for any other parcels of Canton Marketplace have been filed with the city at this time, Crosby said.
