Barbara Jacoby, spokeswoman for the school district, said the 2012-13 school year calendar has been updated to reflect the date of Oct. 26, previously a furlough day, as a school day and Dec. 21 as a furlough day.
Jacoby said the October date was initially selected because there were no other school holidays during that month. However, parents and guardians, staff and school board members have since communicated that the December date would be preferable due to the Christmas holiday’s proximity to the start of Winter Break, she said.
If parents and guardians already have scheduled medical appointments for students for Oct. 26, such absences will be excused in accordance with existing policy, Jacoby said.
The calendar on the CCSD website has been updated and can be viewed at www.tinyurl.com/newCCSD.

Alas, you'd be wrong. I'm guessing this will result in a request for more funding to head-off 'future scheduling crises'?
