Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange told reporters Monday night that authorities were using tear gas to try and flush out the suspect.
Strange said that authorities received two separate tips that someone who looked like suspect Desmonte Leonard was in the area.
Dozens of law enforcement vehicles surrounded the house.
Authorities said Leonard was charged with three counts of capital murder in the Saturday night shooting during a pool party at University Heights apartments.
In all, three were killed and three wounded. The dead included two former Auburn football players.
