Prosecutors say 23-year-old Michael Thomas Nolan of Scottsdale pleaded guilty to assaulting a peace officer.
The Victorville Daily Press says he was initially charged with assault with a deadly weapon but reached a plea deal Friday on the lesser charge.
Nolan was stopped by a San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy in Victorville last month.
A female passenger got out of the vehicle with her hands up, but Nolan sprayed the deputy with the bear repellent and drove away.
Two days later, Nolan was found hiding in a remote desert travel trailer and he was arrested.
