According to the captain of the Milton Police Department, the man may also face federal charges.
Samuel Mosley, 60, was indicted on charges of burglary, theft by taking and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
Mosley was wanted in Cherokee County in relation to an Aug. 13 burglary at the Rainbow Asia restaurant, located at 3725 Sixes Road in Canton. Lt. Jay Baker, spokesman for Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, said the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash, personal checks written to the restaurant, a Kindle Fire and an iPod Touch from the business.
Mosley was arrested last Wednesday at 731 Catherine Blvd. by members of the U.S. Marshall’s Task Force and officers with Milton Police Department.
Det. Kevin Barry with Milton Police Department said surveillance footage from an early morning burglary on Sept. 26 at a barbecue restaurant on Highway 9 later identified the suspect as Mosley. He is accused of stealing approximately $1,100 in cash from a small safe in the restaurant, Barry said.
“We put out the video to other metro agencies and within 24 hours received a call from Sgt. Baldwin at Canton PD who advised Cherokee County was looking for (Mosley),” Barry said.
Cobb and Forsyth police departments also identified Mosley as the suspect in two similar burglaries dating back to April.
“He just got released on parole in March from eight years in jail from a previous burglary,” Barry said.
According to the Georgia Department of Corrections website, Mosley served time for four separate convictions. He was convicted of burglaries in Whitfield, Pickens and Gwinnett counties.
Capt. John Huey with Milton Police Department said there was a 9mm pistol found in Mosley’s car at the time of the arrest. Barry said Mosley also had about $3,300 in cash on his person.
“He also had other evidence in his possession that linked him to our burglary and burglary in Forsyth,” Barry said.
In addition to the outstanding warrant in Cherokee County, Mosley was also wanted in Lake City. Huey said Mosley also has a hold on his record for Auburn, Ala.
“I believe there is a parole hold on him and there could possibly be federal charges pending due to the fact that he is a convicted felon possessing a firearm,” Huey said.
Barry said the cooperation between agencies helped lead to Mosley’s ultimate arrest.
“It’s a great example of how information sharing between law enforcement agencies can solve several open burglaries,” Barry said.
Mosley is being held at Fulton County Jail with no bond.
