More than 1,790 Reinhardt alumni reside in Cherokee County.
“It wouldn’t be fall at Reinhardt if we didn’t welcome back our alumni and their families to enjoy the festivities on campus,” said Kathy Bouyett, alumni director, in a release Thursday. “We are preparing for a great turnout.”
The Miss Reinhardt competition on Oct. 5 will kick off the weekend’s events. Saturday will offer ribbon cuttings, dedications and two reunions. There will be entertainment for every age group.
The 2012 Miss Reinhardt University Competition is planned from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Falany Performing Arts Center. The pageant is open to all women who attend Reinhardt full time, and contestants are judged on academic excellence, commitment to community, talent, interview and evening gown categories.
Fall Family and Alumni Weekend continues on Oct. 6 with a variety of events beginning with an All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast in the Gordy Center from 8 to 10 a.m.
The Reinhardt Softball Team will serve the good meal, and all proceeds from the event will support the softball program.
A ribbon-cutting and open house for the new Athletic Field House, located adjacent to the Ken White Fields, is planned.
Those in attendance can tour the facilities, which include a 22,000-square-foot field house, 4,800 square-foot weight room, and an artificial turf field.
Following the Open House, all athletic alumni are invited for an Athletic Reunion in the Field House. The Lady Eagles soccer team will host a Women’s Soccer Alumni Game on the turf field.
The Fall Festival is planned on Oct. 6 on the Hasty Student Life Center lawn and plaza. Children and adults can enjoy fun games and interactive activities including carnival-style games and inflatables.
Lunch from The Varsity will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is free for alumni, students, parents, faculty and staff.
Other events include an Open House and ribbon cutting for the new Hubbard Residence Hall, a dedication ceremony for the Ken White Music Center and a Lady Eagles soccer game against Virginia Intermont College in the Jim and Syble Boring Sports Complex.
Following the women’s game, the Eagles men’s soccer team will play at 4 p.m., also against Virginia Intermont College.
The weekend will conclude with a Student Talent Show featuring a select group of Reinhardt’s many gifted students. The show will be at the Falany Performing Arts Center, and it will showcase the University’s finest singers, dancers, musicians and other talented performers.
