Jordan Livesay scored 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds, leading River Ridge to a 59-49 victory over tournament host Dalton in Friday’s Region 7AAAA semifinal.

The victory put River Ridge (19-8) in postion to win its first region championship tonight, when it faces the winner of Friday night’s other semifinal between Pickens and Northwest Whitfield. It also guaranteed that the Lady Knights would host a state playoff game for the first time when the Class AAAA tournament begins next week.

River Ridge (19-8) jumped out to a 22-8 lead by connecting on six first-quarter 3-pointers. Jessica Baker made four of the long shots, for all of her 12 points of the night.

Dalton cut the lead in half by the time the second quarter ended and pulled within two points early in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Knights made nine of 14 free throws down the stretch to put the game away.

Jessica Mlaska finished with nine points and seven rebounds, while Parker Nayman and Lucy Stone each finished with seven points.
