Polling sites will be open countywide on Tuesday for voting in the statewide primary election runoff.

A turnout of only 10 percent is expected in Cherokee County, according to Janet Munda, county supervisor of elections.

Voting on Tuesday is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and proper ID is required.

Republican voters will decide their party's nominee for governor in a race between Nathan Deal and Karen Handel.

Republican voters will also pick nominees for attorney general (Sam Olens vs. Preston W. Smith), insurance commissioner (Ralph T. Hudgens vs. Maria Sheffield) and public service commissioner (John Douglas vs. Tim Echols).

Democratic voters will pick between Gail Buckner and Georganna Sinkfield for the party's nominee for secretary of state.

For information about voting including precinct locations, ID requirements and sample ballots, call the elections office at (770) 479-0407 or see the website at voter.cherokeega.com.
