LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) _ Authorities say a former Gwinnett County man accused of killing his 2-year-old daughter and hiding her body in an attic has been apprehended in Mexico after a four-year search.

Georgia law enforcement officers announced the arrest on Wednesday.

The Gwinnett Daily Post reports that Christian Vasquez was taken into custody Tuesday in Puebla, Mexico and was awaiting extradition back to Georgia. He’s charged with murder.

Police say they believe Vasquez struck his young daughter, Prisi, with an object, causing a fatal fracture to her skull, in January or February of 2007 at his family’s home in the Lawrenceville area. Authorities say Vasquez hid the child’s body in the attic, then avoided arrest by fleeing to Mexico.

It wasn’t known Wednesday whether Vasquez has an attorney in the case.
