WOODSTOCK — Both lanes of Holly Springs Parkway were closed Thursday around 5:30 p.m. while emergency personnel cleaned up a three-vehicle wreck that left one woman critically injured, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson Tim Cavender said.

The driver of a Mini Cooper, Erin Cocke, 30, from Canton, was trapped in her car and had to be rescued using the Jaws of Life, according to Cavender.

Cocke suffered upper and lower leg breaks and a fractured pelvis, and was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta in critical condition, according to Cherokee Medcon Operator Scott Coppola.

A spokesperson for the Georgia State Patrol said four people were transported to Kennestone Hospital for injuries as a result of the wreck.

The wreck involved the Mini Cooper, a white Ford pickup truck and a Red Volvo. The Georgia State Patrol said the wreck happened when Cocke entered the intersection as the light was changing and a truck pulling a trailer was completing a left turn.

Cocke tried to swerve around the trailer, went into the opposite lane and struck the Ford pickup truck head-on, the GSP said. The Volvo behind the truck was also hit.

Cavender said the 37-year-old male driver of the truck and his 11- and 3-year-old children, and the 30-year-old female driver of the red Volvo did not appear to have serious injuries.

The Georgia State Patrol said the investigation is ongoing.
