I am writing as a concerned citizen of Cherokee County. I do not reside in Post 1 (I am just outside the boundary in Post 3), but I have been following Ms. Marlow’s actions with great interest over the past few months.
I have read through all of the Open Records Requests filed regarding Ms. Marlow’s correspondence. In the course of those emails, I found numerous attempts by District officials to provide answers to Marlow’s questions as well as offers to meet with Marlow. The emails indicate that the District staff was bending over backwards to accommodate Marlow’s repeated requests.
When Marlow received answers that were not what she wanted to hear, she simply “rephrased” and asked the same question. I even conferred with other concerned residents and read an opinion from an independent CPA about Marlow’s audit questions. I found satisfactory answers to her questions in less than a day.
Marlow’s letter to SACS only further demonstrated her lack of understanding of her role as well as the role of SACS and its policies. Again, a simple phone call to AdvancEd debunked her assertion that the School Board could be placed on probation without the District being penalized. Whether her stunning mistake was ignorance or actual deceit does not matter; she is either incapable of understanding these issues or she does not care to make the effort to understand.
I have no objection to Marlow’s initial questions about the budget, but I have become convinced that her questions are not an honest attempt to examine a complex issue. Marlow’s personal agenda seems to be to discredit to an outstanding school district, and I can only speculate as to her reasons.
I also find it insulting that Marlow claims to have an advisory panel of “40 people,” whose names were not on any ballot.
Every mistake she makes is explained as advice from this group of people, yet she refuses to identify any of them. This is unacceptable for any elected official.
For these reasons, I believe Marlow has lost her ability to effectively govern on the Cherokee County School Board, and I am respectfully asking for her to submit her resignation immediately.
Please note that I have yet to mention Marlow’s recent arrest on felony charges.
My decision to call for her resignation was made before the charges were brought against her and her associates. Falsely accusing the superintendent only gives greater credence to my opinion that her actions are driven by a personal agenda.
I am not a minion. I am not a jester. I am a citizen, a homeowner, a husband, a father of two and a resident of Cherokee County who cares about the 39,000 students in the CCSD.
