BALL GROUND — A concrete truck and a van collided near Ball Ground, sending two to area hospitals Monday.

Tim Cavender, spokesman for Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services, said emergency personnel responded to the two-vehicle accident around 12:30 p.m. at the northbound ramp of Interstate 575 at Howell Bridge Road.

The driver of the concrete truck, a 46-year-old male, was extricated from the vehicle, Cavender said.

Cavender said the man complained of pain in his back, neck and left knee and was later transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.

A 51-year-old female who drove the Ford Windstar van was complaining of neck and back pain and was later taken to Northside-Cherokee Hospital.

The northbound ramp at Howell Bridge Road was closed until the vehicles were removed. Fire and emergency units took about an hour to clean up the wreck.

The cause of the accident was being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol, Cavender said.
