I read Rebecca Johnston’s column regarding the Canton Christmas lights and I applauded her. I totally agree with her, seriously.
You are correct Mr. Bryan, what you helped purchase is “just a bunch of plastic light fixtures” and that is exactly what they look like. I would add cheap-looking except we know the cost was only a mere $30,000. The lights certainly do not reflect Christmas. However, you might consider using the stars on the Fourth of July.
Maybe the citizens of Canton never “mentioned” to you “their preference” because they were not asked, or you would not have listened. It does appear that the council is on a power-control kick and trying to control public input. Seriously, Mr. Bryan, it is a small town city council.
It appears to me if there is “yelling and booing” at your meetings it could be that the citizens of Canton do not agree with your policies.
And, if they “say nothing” just maybe they think you are not a good listener. Either way, you complain.
The First Amendment says we have Freedom of Speech. So, yes, Rebecca, seriously!
