As qualifying for various local elections came to an end Friday, many candidates were the sole qualifiers in their races and are set to run unopposed in November. The City Council races in Canton and Nelson are the only elections in Cherokee where candidates will face opposition, as no challengers qualified to run against incumbents in Holly Springs, Ball Ground or on the school board.
