Doris E. Lewis, 91 of Marietta passed away peacefully after an extended illness on Saturday, November 20, 2010. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 210 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Chapel in Marietta with Rev. Dr. Sam Matthews officiating. Burial will be at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta. Ms. Lewis was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T.O. Lewis, born July 12, 1919 in Kennesaw, Georgia. She began her education in Kennesaw and then after moving to Marietta, she graduated from Marietta High School in 1937 and attended Crichton's Business School in Atlanta, Georgia. Doris spent her career working in Atlanta, Georgia and before retirement worked 29 years employed by I.T.&T, a division of International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation. She had been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marietta since 1935. Survivors include her brother, Thomas Marion Lewis of Marietta as well as several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Ms. Lewis was preceded in death by her parents, as well as sisters, Mary Sue Lewis Adams and Vida Annette Lewis of Marietta and Margaret Lewis Fambrough of Orlando, FL; brothers, James O. Lewis and Howard Fuller Lewis of Marietta. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 56 Whitlock Avenue, Marietta, Georgia 30064 or to a charity of your choice. Family will receive friends from 1:00 -2:00 p.m. before the service at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta.
