UPDATED 2:50 p.m.: The Cherokee County School District has cancelled all weekend events at its schools including usage by outside groups such as churches and recreation groups. The district also has been given state authorization to waive the need to make up four of this week's snow days. As long as there are no other school closings because of weather, the February break will not be shortened from the planned full week off from classes. School will be held on March 17 and 18 as make-up days, which previously were desiganted as furlough days.

Waste Management will resume trash pick up in Canton on Wednesday. Canton residents can drop off household garbage from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, Saturday and Tuesday at 2525 Ridge Road.
