EDITOR'S NOTE: Below is a selection of responses shared by readers of CherokeeTribune.com in reaction to recent Tribune stories ...

BOC mulls 47-acre park land purchase...

M. Walthour wrote -
When will we see some real progress on the park bond? All this land and zero to show for it on the ground. I thought the parks bond was supposed to build more for now and not buy up so much for later.

Doug Harmon wrote - If you spend more money for park land you don't have the funds to develop or operate, don't even think about coming back to me next year with a new 1-percent sales tax. My vote, and everyone else I can influence will be no.

Love Nature wrote - This proposed park land sounds like a great place to put a canoe in/out of the river. I'm all for it before a developer gets it. Good price too.

Woodstock OKs purchase deal for apartments...

Tea Bagger wrote - If the apartment building was in a flood plain to begin with, why did the city let them build it there? And why should the taxpayer pay someone for building something in a flood plain? It's his loss if he did not have the sense to build elsewhere. This has the smell of some redneck city council helping a dumb family member out.

Jimmy 5 Fingers wrote - I think a dog park is a great idea. It will be nice to be rid of this vacant complex.

Canton residents, leaders try to breathe new life into downtown...

Here's an idea wrote - If the city wasn't crawling with illegals, more people might show up!

Anonymous wrote - Also, if there was some real parking for more than 20 cars on Main Street and not a block away at the old church property. The downtown district is falling in on itself... try expanding and not just covering the facade with fresh paint.

What do you think of the HOPE changes?

Laurie wrote -
For students who are serious about finishing school, $2,824 is a small sacrifice. Most will have car loans out for more than that amount.
