The university's College of Science and Mathematics plans to have the groundbreaking at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
The $21 million building will be five stories and 73,000 square feet. It will house science teaching labs, student and faculty research labs and instructional space.
It will be the first facility at the university dedicated entirely to scientific teaching and research and will allow the university to expand undergraduate and graduate course offerings and increase research opportunities for students and faculty.
