Frances Jean Coleman died April 7, 2011 at Woodstock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Atlanta, GA on October 20th 1918, she was predeceased by her husband of almost 70 years, Wilbur Earl Coleman, and her brother Edward Levy Whitner. She is survived by three loving sons and their spouses: David and Anne Coleman of East Lyme, CT; John and Diana Coleman of Canton, GA; Wayne and Barbara Coleman of Solana Beach, CA; sister Leila Ott of Highlands, CA.; grandchildren, Anna Hasty; Kathryn Woods; Katie, Ryan, Eric, Greg and Marc Coleman; and great-grandchildren Jacob, Cassidy, Zacariah, Kristin, Michael, Eryn, Cole, Jamie, and Elijah. After residing much of her adult life in Miami, where her three sons were born and raised, she moved to Cartersville, GA in 1990 where she joined Trinity United Methodist Church. She moved to Woodstock in March, 2009. In Miami, she became an admired golfer, achieving three holes-in-one, and winning the Women's Ace of Aces Tournament at Miami Lakes Country Club. In addition to golf, her hobbies included ceramics and music. Most of all, however, she loved people. She enjoyed a special relationship with devoted friends Sharon Mathis and Jean Steele. She enjoyed life, family and friends to the fullest. Jean was a committed Christian who attended church regularly and nurtured the Christian education of her sons. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 14th, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cartersville, GA. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
