ATLANTA (AP) _ A company owned by the daughter and widow of Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson is pledging $250,000 in his honor to The National Center for Civil and Human Rights.

Jackmont Hospitality Inc. is leading an effort to raise $2.5 million from 10 minority-owned businesses.

The museum has raised more than $73 million toward its goal of $85 million to begin construction, with groundbreaking scheduled for October in Atlanta. The project will cost about $100 million and will be 63,000 square feet.

Much of the project’s current funding has come from corporate donors, including Delta Air Lines, The Coca-Cola Co., The Home Depot Foundation and The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation. A public campaign aimed at individual fundraising is scheduled to begin this summer.
