Walkers will begin a nearly four-mile journey from the Soleil Laurel Canyon clubhouse, down Laurel Canyon Parkway, and back. The Angel Walk is open to the public, and registration is open until the day before the event.
The Angel Walk was started by Soleil residents in order to remember members of the community who have died since the community was founded almost five years ago.
It was also designed to help raise money and awareness for the Angel House of North Georgia, an organization that provides housing and counseling for up to 15 girls, ages 12 to 18. Its goal is to give girls the skills necessary to reach emancipation and succeed. Angel House teaches the girls time and money management, conflict resolution, family planning, resume writing, employment skills and many other workshops to help reach self sufficiency.
Last year, the walk raised $7,100 to help the Angel House purchase a small, fuel-efficient vehicle for transportation. Registration for the Angel Walk can be found online at www.hangel
