Capt. Ronald J. Williams-Wells was also charged last month with breaching security and obstructing a police officer. The Virginian-Pilot reported Wednesday that the police officer wrote in his report that he had to wrestle the chaplain to the floor to get him handcuffed.
Williams-Wells was at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport for a flight to Norfolk, where he is assigned to U.S. Fleet Forces Command.
The newspaper reports that Williams-Wells entered the jetway through a secured door and was within an arm’s length of the plane when an agent stopped him and called police.
Navy Reserve spokesman Cmdr. Doug Gabos says the Navy will investigate. Williams-Wells has a hearing in Atlanta Municipal Court scheduled for Jan. 16.
