PLAINFIELD, Vt. (AP) _ A 100-year-old artist is donating his works to Vermont’s Goddard College.

Hide (HE-day) Oshiro, a Japanese painter, poet, book maker and illustrator, presented hundreds of pieces of art, including numerous sketches, to the small liberal arts college in Plainfield on Thursday.

The artist, who lives in Newburgh, N.Y., says it is his dream to have his art kept in an educational facility where students can learn from it.

The donation was organized by a Goddard graduate who has worked with the artist for years.

Some of the collection will be on display at the college’s small museum.

Goddard President Barbara Vacarr says the gallery is a wonderful gathering spot for what has always been encouraged at Goddard, which is the arts.
