CANTON — Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Investigators are asking for assistance from the public in identifying two individuals who are suspected of stealing lottery tickets during a burglary of a Texaco in south Cherokee County on Wednesday morning.

The suspects threw a cinder block through the front door of the Texaco on Holly Springs Parkway near East Cherokee Drive at approximately 2:45 a.m., said Lt. Jay Baker, spokesman for the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office.

Baker said the suspects then filled a trash can with lottery tickets and cigarettes. The suspects were then captured on video surveillance attempting to cash one of the tickets at an Exxon station on East Main Street in Cartersville at approximately 8:30 a.m Wednesday morning.

“In the video, the first suspect is wearing a yellow and gray coat,” Baker said. “The second suspect is wearing the coat with the hood on his head. The customer in the blue shirt is not involved."

If anyone has information about this incident or recognizes the suspects, they are urged to contact Cherokee detectives at (770) 924-8328.
