CANTON — A Canton man was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of burglary at a restaurant where he was formerly employed, a Cherokee Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.

Christopher Pierno, 31, is accused of twice burglarizing the Rainbow Asia restaurant located at 3725 Sixes Road in Canton on March 25 and March 31, Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker said.

“He broke into the back door and forced entry into the rear of the building,” Baker said.

Baker said sheriff’s detectives identified Pierno, a former seasonal employee of the restaurant, through security camera footage.

“Detectives worked with employees to develop a suspect,” Baker said. “They were then able to follow up on leads and confirm it was him.”

Baker did not disclose the amount of cash Pierno allegedly took from the establishment.

Pierno was also charged with violation of parole for his conviction in a 2009 burglary in Gwinnett County.

He remains in custody at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center without bond.
