Recently, I posted why I am optimistic about the future. Since that time, the men running for president and their minions have pummeled us with more negativity, so I thought I would fire another round in the battle.

Over the weekend, the first commercial spacecraft performs flawlessly, freeing NASA to concentrate on putting astronauts on asteroids and sending them to Mars.

Scientists in Israel successfully used skin cells to create a heart muscle, the first step toward doing away with the need for transplants and artificial pumping devices.

Closer to home, hundreds of high school seniors went out into the world, full of enthusiasm and trepidation. Some of them will succeed. And some of those successes will change the world.

Of course, some of them will decide to get into national politics. Let's all just pray for them.
