WOODSTOCK — The Arts Alliance of Georgia is opening a fresh page on art this Friday when they sponsor fine arts photographer René Gallet and a look at his newest book, “Garden Visions.” The event is planned Friday at the Arts Alliance’s new Studio 101 at 101 Emma Lane, Suite 110, in Woodstock from 3 to 8 p.m.

The Arts Alliance of Georgia is a nonprofit visual arts organization located in Woodstock whose purpose is to further the growth and development of visual arts in Cherokee County and the surrounding area.

“It is our goal to foster and promote excellence among our members and associated artists, and to promote interest and appreciation in arts through education, exchange of ideas, and exhibits,” said Linda Boyer, president.

The recently published photography portfolio book, ‘Garden Visions’ is a new and unique photographic portfolio that celebrates the mystery, beauty, and magic of the flora, ornaments, and details of the gardens of the Southern garden.

The opening reception and book signing is planned from 3 to 8 p.m. and is open to the public.

The series of images, in development for over two years, is a significant departure from Gallet’s customary imagery and style, Boyer said.

Each of the giclée images is printed on fine art papers and edited in a painterly style, making many of them hard to distinguish from watercolor prints or oil painted creations.

At the event, Gallet will have copies of “Garden Visions” available for review and signing.

He will also be previewing a new collection of hand printed note cards featuring the images in this series and some that have been published in his previous publications and exhibits.

Gallet has been actively involved in both the art and the business of photography for over 50 years. Initially a self-taught photographer, Gallet has taught and participated in numerous workshops and seminars.

The photographer‘s images have been published in numerous technical journals, photographic periodicals, and commercial publications.

Each of Gallet’s prints is hand-edited, printed, finished, and mounted to museum standards in accordance with American National Institute Standards requirements for photographic archival permanence and image stability.

Gallet has also published a series of coffee table books featuring many of his portfolios. His extensive image collections can be viewed at www.renegallet.com.

“These exciting photographs are an excellent example of the talent and creativity that exists among the numerous artists that reside in Cherokee County. This book signing at Studio 101 and this opening reception will be a celebration of the creation of a unique cultural asset for all of Cherokee County. Everyone is invited to join us at this gala to help kick off this exciting project,“ Boyer said.

All of the giclée photographs on display at the exhibit will be available for purchase with a portion of the purchase price being donated by the photographer to support the creation, development and growth of Studio 101, the AAoG’s new educational and gallery location.

The photo exhibit will be available for viewing at the gallery during the month of July, Boyer said.

The Arts Alliance of Georgia Studio 101 is located at 101 Emma Lane, Suite 110, Woodstock
