Rabid bat found in St. Marys, residents cautioned

ST. MARYS, Ga. (AP) _ Health officials in a coastal Georgia county are urging residents to take precautions after a bat tested positive for rabies. The Florida Times-Union reports that the rabid bat was found in St. Marys in Camden County. Health officials say people should avoid any bat that is active during the day or found in a home or other places bats aren’t usually seen. Health officials also urge residents to avoid contact with wild or stray animals and watch for unusual behavior in pets and wildlife. ——— Information from: The Florida Times-Union.
