ACWORTH — The Georgia State Patrol is still seeking help finding the driver responsible for a hit-and-run fatality that killed an Acworth man on Kellogg Creek Road early Saturday.

Larry Allen Ward, 31, was killed while walking west on the road around 12:30 a.m. near Romain Drive after leaving a nearby campground on foot, according to police.

Gordy Wright, spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol, said a vehicle traveling west on Kellogg Creek Road struck and killed Ward and then left the scene.

Wright said investigators believe the vehicle is likely a late-1980s to early-1990s model Ford Explorer or Ford Ranger with damage to the front of the vehicle, including the grill.

The color of the sports utility vehicle and its tag number are not known, he said.

Wright said the Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team from Calhoun is assisting the Georgia State Patrol in the investigation.

Anyone with information on the vehicle, or who may have other information in the case, is asked to contact the Georgia State Patrol post in Jasper at (706) 692-4835 or the Calhoun office of the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team at (706) 624-1484.
