HOLLY SPRINGS — The third season of “Bachelor Pad” will feature some new faces not seen in previous “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” shows, and a 28-year-old Holly Springs man is one of them.

When the new season of the hit reality series kicks off July 23, Chris Bain, a SWAT team officer with the Marietta Police Department, will be a part of the show.

The reality TV show is a spinoff of the two series, with the first two seasons featuring former contestants of the shows competing for another chance to find love and win $250,000.

“For the third season, they had the same concept, but they only put in 14 prior contestants and selected six fans,” Bain said. “I was chosen as one of the two guys chosen as part of that six.”

The Marietta native and Walton High School graduate said he found out about the show while watching an episode of “The Bachelor” and submitted his video to the ABC website.

He got a phone call and flew to Los Angeles for several interviews before finally being cast for the show.

Bain said he is a bachelor, but noted that he’s “extremely picky.”

“I’ve got two parents who have been together for 40 years and I value marriage,” Bain said. “I want to make sure when I do get married that it’s the only time, so I am cautious.”

In participating in the reality show, he said wasn’t initially prepared for the in-your-face nature of reality television.

“I was a little naïve,” he said. “I had high hopes going into it, but it is television, and I wasn’t prepared for reality television and cameras in your face 24 hours a day.

Bain said he wasn’t prepared for all of the drinking and partying involved in the show either.

“It takes a little getting used to,” Bain said. “It was definitely an experience.”

He said that the level of partying was something he does not normally participate in.

Bain, who worked for four years as a personal trainer, said his interests lie more in the field of fitness modeling and bodybuilding.

“That’s what I’d like to do more of in the future,” he said. “But right now, law enforcement is my full time job.”

Bain isn’t new to the Hollywood scene, as he began acting and modeling with East Coast Talent Agency in November 2011. He has appeared in several national advertisements and will be seen in several upcoming commercials as well as the reality show.

“It’s something I have always had an interest in,” he said.

“Bachelor Pad 3” premieres July 23 at 8 p.m. and will run for eight weeks. It airs on ABC and is hosted by Chris Harrison.
