Candidates for the Georgia State House District 20, incumbent Rep. Charlice Byrd (R-Woodstock) and challenger Michael Caldwell, turned in their campaign contribution disclosures for the June 30 reporting period, with Byrd bringing in more money than her opponent.
Byrd, who is seeking a third term, raised $39,183 during the most recent period, which brings her total to $150,693.57.
The incumbent spent $17,525.35 during the June 30 reporting period, which brought her total expenditures to $111,148.55.
Byrd reported she has $39,545.02 in cash on hand. She also has a $15,000 loan on the books.
Some of Byrd’s bigger contributors include the Georgia Beverage Association at $500, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia at $750; Woodstock-based Bullock Enterprises Inc., at $1,000; Citizens for Calvin Hill at $500; Friends of Jan Jones at $2,500; Georgia Association of Realtors PAC at $800; Georgia Health Care Association at $500; Larry O’Neal Campaign Fund at $2,500; Cherokee County District Attorney Garry Moss at $125 and Ralston for Representative Committee at $5,000.
Caldwell raised $3,068 during the reporting period, which boosts his overall total to $13,517.31.
The candidate, who is challenging Byrd for the second time, has spent $4,474.46 during the period. Caldwell has spent $7,998.46 so far and has $5,518.85 in cash on hand.
Caldwell’s major contributor for the period is Python Safety Inc. in the amount of $2,400.

When you compare actual campaign financing from Georgia citizens and businesses, Michael Caldwell has more contributions from Byrd. Considering Caldwell refuses contributions from Lobbyists, PACs, other political campaigns, or from out of state, this hardly paints the full picture.
