Lt. Jay Baker, spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, said Brhea Wofford, 20, of Waleska was arrested Friday and charged with three counts of financial transaction fraud and entering an automobile in relation to suspected theft from a car in the BridgeMill subdivision July 1.
Then on Monday afternoon, Baker said investigators arrested 22-year-old Kristina Garcia of Waleska and charged her with three counts of financial transaction fraud and entering an automobile.
Last Monday, the Sheriff’s Office released photos and a video from surveillance cameras of one suspect in the case, calling for the public’s help in finding the woman.
“Within minutes of the theft, a suspect was using a credit card that was stolen from the vehicle at businesses near BridgeMill,” Baker said at the time of the release. “An image of a white female who had just used the card was captured on security cameras as she was leaving the Sixes Road QuikTrip.”
After releasing the images to the media, investigators received information from the public that led them to the two suspects.
“We certainly appreciate the assistance from the media and the citizens who provided that vital information,” Baker said.
Both Wofford and Garcia remain in custody at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center, each with a $12,900 bond.
Baker said the investigation remains ongoing and more arrests are possible.
