Main Street Mornings will have its inaugural session at 8 a.m. Thursday on the second floor of the newly-renovated Jones & Cloud Insurance, at 121 East Main St. in downtown Canton.
Each session will take place every third Thursday at different local businesses, Canton Main Street Program Director Ginger Garrard said.
She said the event will encourage business people to share ideas on growing their businesses and downtown Canton. Each session will feature networking, coffee and a light breakfast.
Next week’s guest speaker will be Jennifer Dunn, owner of Social Street Media. Dunn, a social media consultant, said her two-year-old business offers businesses not only just her expertise in social media, but also marketing, blogging and public relations solutions.
Dunn said she will be giving a brief overview of how business owners can get started with social media.
“I’m going to try to demystify (social media) a little bit and help them figure out ways in 30 minutes or less to get involved with various sites,” Dunn said.
A downtown Canton resident, Dunn said she is interested in helping revitalize downtown by helping to inspire other business owners and attract new businesses to Canton.
The Main Street Program assists participating Georgia cities with a population between 5,000 and 50,000 residents in revitalizing their downtown commercial districts. It uses a four-point approach to economic revitalization: organization, promotion, design and economic restructuring.
“I want us to be doing everything we can think of to get downtown moving and shaking again,” Dunn said.
Any businesses interested in hosting the event for a future meeting can contact Garrard at (770) 704-1548.
